Google adsense is one of the best contextual advertising programs available on the web and at this point it has the biggest amount of advertisers and publishers on the web. The more advertisers there are the more opportunities you have to get better ads. The system with adsense works so that advertisers bid amounts that they are willing to pay to get an ad visible for a certain keyword. These keywords correspond to the keywords that are on your website. This means that the ads are highly targetted and you may get a lot of clikcs based on them.

Earning wary a lot based on your sites content and niche. Earning may vary from 0,50$CPM up to 10$CPM

Usage and applying

The application process for adsense does not take that long. If I remember correctly my application handling took about 1 week. During the application process you have to input your website URL and that URL is going to be verified. When you have been accepted to the program then you add small code snippets to your website html and then you automatically start showing the ads.
